November is a popular time to travel, and New York is a popular destination to visit. If you’re planning on visiting New York, here are the top 12 things to do in NYC in November.

Ah, New York City during the holidays can bring such a feeling of nostalgia, whether you have lived there before or you have never even visited. Everyone across the country can feel some attachment to this place – especially this time of year.

Maybe it is the memories of watching Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade growing up. Or, it could be due to such movies as Miracle on 34th Street, Elf, and Home Alone 2. Of course, let’s not forget the New Year’s Eve celebrations and The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

What Are the Best Things to Do in NYC in November?

What does all of this mean? It means that there are so many things to do in NYC this November. Great food, great sights to see, and great memories to make. So, go ahead and book your private jet charter and start planning all you will do upon arriving in New York City.

What are you waiting for? Check out these 12 things you will not want to miss!

1. The Rockefeller Ice Skating Rink

Are you an avid ice skater? Whether you are or you aren’t won’t matter. Once you get a glimpse of the outdoor rink with views of the largest ever Christmas tree, you will forget your abilities. Besides, if you need lessons, you can get those, too.

2. Holiday Train Show at the Botanical Gardens

During the holidays, these already beautiful gardens are taken to a whole new level as they light up with an extensive collection of trains.

The track, at nearly a half-mile long, allows the trains to travel past all of the famous New York City landmarks, such as the Empire State Building and Radio City Music Hall (the miniature variety, of course). Each structure is designed using tree branches and twigs, leaves, and so forth.

3. The Dyker Heights Christmas Lights

One of the most popular things to do in NYC in November is to visit the Dyker Heights Christmas lights. If you love looking at Christmas lights and you are ready to snag a bit of that holiday cheer, then you will most definitely not want to miss the Dyker Heights display in Brooklyn.

Tens of thousands of lights go into making this sparkling wonderland each year. And, it sure does draw the crowds, too. Many houses participate and it extends over several blocks.

4. A Walk Through Central Park

If you think it is impossible to escape to an oasis while in New York City, think again. Walking through Central Park will make you forget where you are for a moment. And, during this time of year, the beauty in the trees and all around is enough to make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

You can take a stroll on your own or try one of the free walking tours that will fill you with all sorts of information about the park and its history. Along the way, you are sure to see entertainers of all sorts just performing for free, although donations are always appreciated.

5. Visit Museums

New York City has a plethora of museums. Depending on your interests, you are sure to find one – or more – that catch your attention. Because the city is so incredibly busy during November, it is common to find deals on admission fees, too.

6. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

You’ve watched it on your television, why not check it out in person? It’s one of the most well-known of things to do in NYC in November.

The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day parade is an iconic event full of massive character balloons. See celebrities, the Rockettes, theatrical performances, bands, and more. Don’t forget a visit from Santa and his sleigh, too.

7. The Radio City Christmas Spectacular

Speaking of the Rockettes, you will not want to miss their synchronized kicking in their holiday program. Based at Radio City Music Hall, this show has been going on since the 1930s.

It’s fun, lighthearted, and full of holiday goodness. Santa, tap dancing, and the Rockettes. What more could you ask for?

8. The Empire State Building

If you have never been to New York City, this is a stop you must add to your list. Checking out the city from the top of this skyscraper can take your breath away – especially at night. I

n addition to the view, think of all the celebrities that have stood on this iconic platform. Movies such as King Kong, Sleepless in Seattle, Elf, An Affair to Remember, and more have been filmed here.

9. One World Observatory

If you have already done the Empire State Building, then you may want to check out this 100+ floor observation deck. Newly opened, you will get some of the most amazing views ever in this high-tech building.

10. The 9/11 Memorial

November and the upcoming holidays are all about showing gratitude. The events of 9/11 impacted our entire country – New York City, in particular.

While visiting, you should consider taking the time to visit the memorial.

11. Stop by Broadway

One of the most popular things to do in NYC, in November specifically is to visit Broadway. There are always shows going on in November on Broadway. You may even catch a Christmas show, such as A Christmas Carol.

As you plan your visit to NYC, be sure to check out the shows available and book your seats. After all, you can’t come to this dramatic city and not take in a theatrical performance!

12. Be a Part of Television History

Did you know that there are shows filmed live in New York City? Of course, if you are an early bird, there is always The Today Show. And, for the night owls, we have:

  • Saturday Night Live
  • The Late Show with Stephen Colbert
  • The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon
  • The Daily Show, and more

Depending on the show, you may want to check in advance for tickets.

Conclusion

There are countless number of things to do in NYC in November. You will be thankful you visited. The best part is that if you are dreading the busy airports, your private jet charter can utilize any of the many private, executive airports located in the region. This means that the great city you chose is even more accessible than you ever imagined.

So, book your charter, pack your bags, and get ready to fall straight into the holiday season with a visit to New York City.

Air Travel Legislation

The Federal Aviation Administration, FAA, has announced new legislation in hopes of improving air travel. The FAA and congress have settled on a compromise that satisfies both airline companies and passengers.

Provisions included in the reauthorization bill will demand that passengers under 13 will be booked in seats next to family members for no additional cost, baggage fees for luggage lost longer than 12 hours will be promptly refunded, and requires the TSA to deploy measures to shorten screening times and security lines.

‘‘This is an amazing win for consumers,’’ said Charles Leocha, president of Travelers United, “It is far more than consumers would have gotten with a straight extension.’’

Luxury Hotel Brings Rebirth to Asbury Park

Two blocks from the boardwalk, the Asbury Hotel opening is a milestone as the first hotel opening in Asbury Park, NJ in over 50 years. A derelict Salvation Army building was converted into the boutique hotel, tuned to showcase the city’s music, art, and food scenes.

Asbury Park has seen some struggles with hurricanes, the Great Recession, and Superstorm Sandy, but the Victorian charm and proximity to Manhattan have helped the city recover.

The Asbury hotel has a communal outdoor meeting lounge, The Pit, and Soundbooth, a music-themed bar just inside the lobby, for entertaining guests within the building. A beer garden, outdoor pool, and contracted food trucks round out the experience well.

Flying Private From New York City May Actually Save You Money

The many benefits of private jet travel make it an ideal way to fly. A few of the advantages include comfort, convenience and luxury.

Travel by way of a private jet often includes many extras, such as quiet terminals, no long lines, no rushing, and an enjoyable flight.

In the past, these privileges came at a high price. This is not the case anymore.

Recent years have brought about changes in private jet travel.

New programs, such as empty leg charters, Uber-style booking services and repositioning flights have made it much more reasonable to fly on a private jet. In fact, it is sometimes cheaper to fly by private jet than to take a commercial flight.

Empty Leg and Repositioning Flights

When a private jet is chartered by someone, it has to be delivered back to its base destination or its next pick-up point. In the past, these flights would fly empty, earning them the name “empty leg” flights. Nearly 40 percent of all private flights operated without passengers. This is a significant waste of money for the private charter companies. They have recently begun to offer these empty seats at a steep discount. These discounts can make it cheaper to fly on a private jet versus commercial, especially since you there is no baggage, seat assignment or other fees on private jets. Passengers bring as much luggage as they desire. There is no charge for seat assignments. You can sit wherever you like on a private jet. If you want to bring Fido along on your private flight, there is no charge for that either.

Cost Savings of Flying Via a Private Jet

Here is an example of just how much less a private flight can cost compared to commercial. A recent private charter flight for six people from a private airport in the New York City area to Nassau, Bahamas was listed at $1,074. That equals roughly $179 a person. In comparison, flights from New York City (NYC) to Nassau are currently listed as $260 on United Airlines. Here are some of the typical extra fees with United Airlines:

  • Checked Bag Fee is $25
  • In-Cabin Pet Fee is $125-$250
  • Reservation by Phone Fee: $25

As you can see, for this particular flight, it would be cheaper for a family or party of six to fly by way of a charter or private jet. In addition to the cost savings, private jet passengers often have access to upscale amenities, such as spa rooms, private lounges and free parking. These benefits make flying via private jet a win-win situation.

Advantages of a New York Jet Charter

Many people may think that they can’t afford a New York private jet charter, but there are some big advantages to private air charter travel that can outweigh the costs for certain people and businesses.

Comfort
When it comes to comfort, there is no comparison between commercial air travel and a private jet charter. With a private jet charter, you will get personal service from the time you show up at the office until you arrive at your destination and get off the plane. You won’t get anywhere near that kind of service on commercial travel, even in first class.

Convenience
You can’t beat the convenience of a private jet charter. You won’t have to stand in ticket lines or security lines, and you won’t have to worry about how many bags you can take and whether you need to check a bag or not. You also don’t have to show up at the airport and hour or more before your departure time and you won’t have to fly with dozens or hundreds or other people.

Speed
When it comes to getting to your destination quickly, a private jet charter is the way to go. Private jets fly about as fast as a commercial jet, but it’s on the ground where you make up time. Not having to be bound by a set commercial schedule allows you to fly when it’s most convenient for you. And the fact that you can fly point to point in most cases, without having to stop at a hub airport, will save you hours.

Cost
On a per-ticket basis, a private jet charter is more expensive than even a last-minute first class ticket on a commercial flight. But for a business that has to fly several people to the same destination, a private jet charter might actually be a better deal. It pays to at least check into it and not assume the charter flight will be more expensive.

Reasons to Consider Flying to New York City Via Private Jet

New York City is one of the most exciting places to visit in the world. Between the wonderful restaurants, exquisite architecture, and the magnificent museums, art galleries, and theater productions it is no wonder that millions of people want to visit this place every year. Many people are discovering that if they truly want to have the vacation of the lifetime, then flying to the big apple via private jet is the best option.

Benefits of Choosing a Private Jet Charter

There are many reasons that people are turning to private jets when they are making their traveling arrangements. First of all, private jets provide much more flexibility. If someone decides to book a flight using a commercial airline, then they will be extremely limited when it comes to scheduling. Individuals who choose to use a private jet charter will be able to decide when they are leaving because there are flights available 24/7. The private jet company will capitulate to the passenger’s schedule, rather than the other way around.

Individuals who choose to fly via private jet will also enjoy infinitely better seating arrangements, and personalized in-flight entertainment. There will be no walking through crowded aisles to get to the bathroom, and paying obscene amounts of money for a small drink and a cracker. Many private jet companies hire celebrity catering services to provide food that is mouthwateringly delicious.

Safety Considerations

Some people may be a little wary of flying in a private jet because they do not know what kind of safety features these jets provide. There are private jet companies that only use Wyvern-recommended aircraft and crew. Wyvern is a third party aviation safety auditor. Between the years of 1991 to 2010, there were 135 fatalities, and none of these fatalities involved aircraft or crew members who were recommended by the Wyvern safety brokers. Individuals who use jets recommended by these safety brokers have no need to worry about their safety.

In short, visiting New York City can be an incredible experience. The experience will be all that much better if one decides to fly there via private jet.

Most companies require that their staff also be thoroughly screened, and you can be sure that if an employee does not pass the rigorous process, they will not be on board with you. Pilots who work for New York jet charter companies also may not have to work the same grueling shifts that commercial pilots are subject to, meaning the captain of your plane may be more well-rested and alert.

Your trip will be closely monitored from take off until landing. The crew will do a full inspection of all parts of the plane even before you arrive, saving you time. Throughout the flight, the experts will be busy serving you and inspecting the plane’s gauges and alerts. In the event that something does go wrong, the staff is trained in what to do. On a New York jet charter with only one passenger, you are their first priority.
