Maui is expensive. As the largest tourist concentration of Hawaii, it just doesn’t have the supply to fill the demand of all the people that travel there. The hotels are all situated in the densely packed southern portion of Maui, and rooms can cost upwards of $110 a night for bare hostel accommodations.
Thankfully the locals have their own spots unknown to the vast public. Following them you will find value on meals, excitement, and if you become good enough friends, a place to stay the night.
