UNESCO's Newest Heritage Sites
UNESCO World Heritage Sites are known for their historic significance- both natural, cultural, and “combination” wonders that should be protected, celebrated, and preserved. With 27 new additions to the list, there are 1,031 sites around the world that are named to the list. The World Heritage Committee met in Bonn, Germany for over a month to discuss and consider the new site additions, which must meet at least one of 10 criteria that deems it UNESCO worthy.
While all sites are notable, some of the most popular include the areas of Champagne and Burgundy, France, where wine making has developed, and the San Antonio Missions in Texas.
