Plan the Perfect Summer Vacation With This Convenient Checklist

Plan the Perfect Summer Vacation With This Convenient Checklist | The Early Air Way

Are you thinking about an adventure this summer? If so, you might be wondering how to start the planning process.

Planning a trip can be an intimidating task. It is easy to get overwhelmed, especially if you have not planned a trip before. Here is a step-by-step guide to help you plan the perfect summer getaway.

#1 Decide Upon a Destination

Figuring out where you want to go is the first step and also one of the most important steps in planning your trip. It is almost impossible to continue with the next steps until you know where you want to go.

The problem is that with so many great places to go, it can be hard to choose just one. Here are some questions to help you choose a destination:

  • Would you rather travel within the United States or internationally?
  • Do you prefer warm or cold weather?
  • Which is your idea of the perfect vacation: Spending time relaxing on a beach or taking in Broadway shows in the city?
  • Do you prefer historic or modern architecture?

Answering these questions can help you choose the perfect location.

If you prefer the beach and want to travel internationally, the Bahamas may be your ideal destination.

On the other hand, if you want to stay within the United States and experience high-energy excitement, then Las Vegas might be for you.

#2 Pick a date

Decide when you want to go. This is important as it will help you decide when to book transportation and accommodations.

Take the following things into consideration when choosing a date:

  • How much of a notice that you need to give to take off work
  • If you have children, do you need to schedule during their school holidays
  • Are you free to travel during non-peak times? If so, it can be much cheaper

#3 Choose Your Transportation

How will you get to your dream destination? For most travel, flying is ideal. But, flying commercial can be quite a hassle with the long security lines, tight restrictions on luggage and hidden costs.

As a result, private jet travel is becoming quite popular and for good reason.

Private jet travel is convenient and efficient. You do not have to fly out of a busy hub airport unless you want to. In addition, there are no long security lines or restrictions on luggage.

You can bring whatever you want on board, within reason. T

his comes in handy if you are taking a skiing trip to Colorado, as you can bring your skis or snowboard aboard a private jet without an additional charge.

Do you think that private jet travel is expensive? Think again. Many private jet companies offer last-minute deals on unused seats.

These last minute deals mean that you can often fly on a private charter jet for less than a commercial flight.

#4 Figure out Where You Want to Stay

Where you want to stay plays an important role in your trip planning process.

There are various types of accommodations available, from budget-friendly hostels to luxurious resorts. Take into consideration your budget and the type of traveling that you will be doing.

If you plan to do a lot of hiking and outdoor activities, for instance, you might want to choose an eco-hotel. While a beach resort might be a better choice for a surf vacation.

Avoid the TSA

Airport lines and delays are getting more frustrating and longer as time progresses. The Transportation Security Administration has been reported as a larger hassle than the benefits it provides.

In a rush of reports recently the TSA is painted as an understaffed agency with little to no track record of success, and even no cyber-security to speak of. The only impact it is having on travel and the transportation industry is slowing it down through lines and delays.

Certain systems have been proposed to improve the TSA, from increasing the manpower on the ground to speed things along, to increasing training of each agent to more accurately screen luggage, to even abolishing the TSA to replace with private security for each airport.

From this build-up in annoyances the luxury travel industry has seen an influx of new priivate charters and jet hedging customers.

Word-Class Destinations for Family Summer Vacation Fun

No one needs to be reminded of how precious the fleeting moments of family vacations are. Those characteristically sultry days that just seem to whiz by year after year are critical to promoting healthy family culture. Subsequently, vacation planners everywhere take their best shots each summer to make the time with their families as memorable and impactful as possible. Here are some ideas for mapping out unforgettable vacation activities that could very easily become annual family traditions.

Breathtaking Outdoor Adventures
Aspen, Colorado will always be known for its first-class ski resorts, but the surrounding natural environment also lends itself to some great summertime fun. Since it is normally a good idea to survey a region’s landscape before exploring it in-depth, Aspen visitors have the option of taking off on one of the city’s spectacular hot air balloon rides. A typical tour of the stunning mountainous region begins at dawn and ends with a congratulatory champagne or sparkling cider brunch where participants receive official flight certificates as souvenirs. From above, tour guides can point out the best trails and scenic areas for days of biking, horseback riding and kayaking.

Yellowstone National Park is home to numerous species of mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds. Park visits are ideal for families with children of all ages who are curious about the natural environment and its inhabitants. Besides the self-guided park activities, children can participate in special initiatives that are led by park rangers like the ranger adventure hikes, young scientist program and junior ranger program. All park events promote critical thinking skills, problem solving abilities and a respect for the environment.

Journeys in Experiential Learning
It’s generally true that many Parisians forsake the City of Light during the summer in favor of cooler climes near France’s Mediterranean coast. The warm-weather months offer Paris visitors rare windows of opportunity to explore the city’s famed design district without being crushed by crowds. Budding fashion and interior designers happily find that tours of textile boutiques can lead them all over the fascinating city. Families that want to get the most out of their haute-couture adventures book tours with knowledgeable guides (1) who are often design students at the local universities.

Everybody benefits from a household of skilled cooks, and families that choose to vacation in the lovely Riviera Maya region can imbibe in the area’s fresh produce while learning to make authentic Mexican cuisine. After playing and relaxing at one of the district’s famed beach resorts, many visitors report to the International Kitchen’s Riviera Maya cooking school campus (2) for four days of culinary cultural immersion into Mexico’s past and present.

Lend a Helping Hand
Taking a volunteer vacation is one way for families to reinforce their values relating to citizenship, social responsibility, environmental stewardship and compassion. Volunteers to Kilimanjaro in Tanzania (3) can personally interact with children orphaned by the AIDS epidemic. Those who choose assignments in Cartago, Costa Rica (4) can bring joy to the city’s often-marginalized elderly population through lunch visitation programs. Both of these regions offer first-class tourism activities in addition to opportunities to make a difference in the lives of the people who live in those areas.

Conclusion
Modes of modern travel put the world at the fingertips of adventurous vacationers. Families that strive to produce members who are imaginative and inquisitive thinkers have nearly limitless vacation possibilities.

TSA Lines Continue Expanding

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) security lines in airports are continuing to grow despite new measures. The TSA has implemented more agents and other options for the security lines, but may say these are a delayed reaction.

At its root, the problem stems from the simple issue of not enough security agents and too many passengers. Earlier this year in The Wall St. Journal, Peter Neffenger, TSA administrator, pointed to staffing cuts, an increased volume of passengers, and “efforts to fix significant screening lapses” as the reasons behind growing lines.

In the past airlines have left the responsibility to passengers to struggle through these security lines to board their flights on-time. Now missed flights due to TSA wait times are starting to disrupt daily operations, and the airlines are starting to fight back. As well as general outreach and education of the growing problem, airlines are encouraging passengers to vocalize their unhappiness.

Other airports are threatening to outsource security away from TSA agents, and some even manage it themselves. In a recent announcement the TSA will begin increasing the staffing of agents at the most delayed airports, but many passengers are disgruntled with the delay and paltry response.

Maintaining a Healthy Diet While Traveling

Maintaining a healthy diet during vacation can be a challenging task. Disrupted and sometimes unpredictable dining and sleep schedules can greatly contribute to poor eating choices. Regardless of the type of vacation, these three healthy eating tips will apply for private jet travel, road trips, and cruise excursions:

  • Eat breakfast: Starting the day with a nutritious breakfast is sure help travelers maintain energy throughout their vacation.
  • Eat snacks: A healthy snack every three to four hours will keep a person’s blood sugar levels stable and prevent overeating.
  • Eat light meals: Because heavy and large meals can often result in fatigue, consuming at least one light meal a day will invigorate travelers on their journey.

Here are a few additional tips to eating healthy while traveling:
Private Jet Flight

  • Stay hydrated with beverages like water, tea, and 100 percent juice.
  • Bring an empty water bottle in a carry-on, and fill with water from a water fountain after going through security.
  • Place some fresh ginger in an empty travel mug, and fill with hot water while onboard the private jet charter to Miami, Florida.
  • Pack snacks in a carry-on such as fresh fruit, kale chips, whole-grain crackers, miniature sandwich/wraps, trail mix, and/or freeze-dried vegetables.

Road Trips

  • Pack a small cooler with homemade sandwiches, fresh fruit, yogurt, water, raw veggies, and hummus.
  • Travel with nutritious snacks like trail mix, granola bars, dried fruits, and trail mix.
  • Avoid snacking while driving, and schedule a stop for a quick healthy meal. A break from riding in the car will enable travelers to participate in short exercises such as jumping jacks and other leg stretches.

Cruise Excursions

  • Always eat a healthy breakfast on the ship.
  • Enjoy healthy dining options during the cruise such as the Canyon Ranch Spa Cuisine on the Queen Mary 2.
  • Consume one lighter meal and one larger meal every day on the excursion.

For those traveling with family and/or friends, hold each other accountable for maintaining healthy eating habits while on vacation.
