Different Types of Citation Jets to Consider Traveling In - Early Air Way

Did you know that there are different types of Citation Jets?

Textron Aviation designs and produces Cessna Citation jets of all types. Take a look back through history and it is easy to see that these are some of the most popular private jets in the market. And, well, there are quite a few to choose from.

So, before you book your next travel plans, let’s take a closer look at the different types of Citation jets available.

Types of Citation Jets

Although any private jet can provide you with an incredible experience, having the right jet can make all the difference. But, you cannot know whether your jet is a perfect fit until you know what jets are available.

To help narrow down your search, we have combined them in their respective categories and have provided their most important details.

Take some time to see what is available and, if you have any questions, ask your charter team.

Light Citation Jets

Light jets are those that are often considered fast and efficient. They get you where you need to go rather quickly, but they are often compact in size and lack range. Many avid air travelers find that light jets are perfect for short trips.

Citation offers a few light jets, including the Citation I, Citation II, Citation Bravo, Citation Ultra, and the Citation Encore.

Citation I. The Citation I has room for about six passengers and a range of 1200 NM. This is the original Cessna business jet and has also been known as the Citation 500.

Citation CJ1. Also known as Cessna 525, this light jet can hold up to 5 passengers and can travel 1302 NM. It has even been referred to as a very light jet.

Citation II. Slightly larger, the Citation II (Citation 550) can hold up to 8 passengers and has an enclosed lavatory.

Citation Bravo. The Citation Bravo has space for 7 passengers and an enclosed lavatory. It can go the distance at 1700 NM.

Citation Ultra. Another Cessna, this jet is perfect for 8 and has a full lavatory. It can travel up to 1900 NM.

Citation Encore. This jet is an updated version of the Citation Ultra. It has a newer, more fuel-efficient engine a new avionics suite, and always provides smoother landings. It has a great range, too —- up to 2,072 NM. You will find room for 8 passengers and a full lavatory onboard.

Midsize Citation Jets

A midsize citation jet is one that offers a little more space and can often travel greater distances than light jets. Below are 3 Citation jets that fit in this category.

Citation Excel/XLS. This jet has room for 8 passengers with a full vanity lavatory. It has a range of up to 2080 NM. It is known for its long cabin length and best-in-class baggage capacity which is always welcome on a full flight.

Citation III. The Citation III also has space for 8 passengers with a range of 2100 NM. Its size is similar to the above Excel.

Citation VII. This jet has room for 8 passengers and a range of 2180 NM. It has a lavatory with curtains on board. You will find great baggage capacity, too.

Super-Mid Citation Jets

Finally, the super-mids category has two Citation jets you will not want to overlook. These jets can really go the distance while remaining fuel efficient.

Citation X. The Citation X is known as the largest and fastest Citation. It holds 8 passengers and 2 crew members, and can travel a range of 3050 NM.

Citation Sovereign. This jet has one of the largest cabins in class with room for 8 passengers and a range of up to 3310 NM.

How to Choose The Best Citation For You

With so many Citation jets to choose from, how do you choose the right one? How do you know what will work best? There are a couple of things to take into consideration, such as who you are traveling with and where you are traveling.

Number of Passengers

Each private jet has a cap on the number of passengers it can hold. This is due to safety reasons and to adhere to weight restrictions on the jet. While you may be able to travel solo on a jet designed for eight, you cannot very well place ten passengers on a jet made to hold seven.

Before you book your flight, have an idea of how many will be traveling with you.

Your Travel Destination

Where you are traveling is another key factor in deciding on your private jet. Why does this matter? One of the perks of flying private is traveling nonstop. Unless you don’t mind stopping to refuel, you are going to want a jet that can go the distance. When you know where you are traveling, you can narrow down the Citations that will handle your itinerary.

The more details you have, the easier it will be to choose the right jet for your travel plans.
