Escaping your everyday routine in a new part of the country is a welcomed and well-deserved respite. The big question remains, however: where should you go? Before you starting booking your airline tickets, here are two suggestions for travel destinations if you choose to visit California.

San Francisco is an exciting and vibrant city that merits a spot on everyone’s bucket list. Located in Northern California along the bay, San Francisco has much to offer for all types of people. Families traveling together will enjoy Golden Gate Park, Fisherman’s Wharf, and the San Francisco Zoo. Alcatraz Island, a historic prison, is another unforgettable tourist stop to make with children. If you are traveling without kids, the Castro District is a hip neighborhood with lots of shops, restaurants, and bars to explore. The city also houses many impressive museums, such as the San Francisco Natural History Museum, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco. No matter where you decide to go, make sure you take time to admire the Golden Gate Bridge, walk around Chinatown, and hop on a cable car.

Another top destination in California is Los Angeles. Famous for the movie industry, the city is a great place to come to see celebrity mansions, Universal Studios Theme Park, the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and television sets. However, LA has much to offer beyond the entertainment world. Griffith Park houses the Griffith Observatory, the Los Angeles Zoo, and breathtaking views of Southern California. With consistently nice weather, Downtown Los Angeles is easily walked and enjoyed year-round. Olvera Street is a historic monument that preserves and celebrates Mexican culture, and it is located across the street from the beautiful Union Station. Even if you do not need to catch a train, the architecture and gardens at the station are worth seeing. Be sure to stop by the Grand Central Market to experience the sights and smells of an authentic Los Angeles locale. It is sure to be one of many memorable stops in an incredible city.
