A group of Japanese travel agents, tour operators, and airline personnel have put together a list of 30 towns and small locations they voted as the most beautiful spots in Europe. - Kilkenny, Ireland was chosen for Kilkenny Castle, St. Canice’s Cathedral, and the medieval walls around town.
- Lech, Austria is a fashionable Austrian ski resort that is an old farming village cut from its surroundings during winter.
- Setenil de las Bodegas, Spain was picked due to its dwellings cut directly into the rock and famous local chorizo.
- Bernkastel-Kues, Germany is a “health resort” placed in the middle of the wine-growing region, with a beautiful markeplace set in the medieval period and exemplifying the timber-framed structures of the time.
