Flying For the Future
Every other year, Airbus hosts a competition to bring together the brightest students from the arts, engineering, finance, and business sectors. These students work together in teams to create ideas that will facilitate and improve commercial air travel on a large scale. Five teams are chosen from many applicants to present their proposals before a jury; the winning team receives a substantial sum prize to continue their idea’s research and development. This year, teams brought a variety of innovative ideas, from harvesting energy from the planes’ vibrations and using drones to herd birds, to taxiing software, trash and recycling sorting, and sustainable energy sources for ground operations.
