Streaming Video Coming Soon To Private Jets

Bombardier Inc. has become the first aircraft maker to offer live-streaming that will allow travelers to watch their favorite TV shows at rapid speeds. The capabilities will begin being incorporated into aircrafts as early as 2016, marking the latest upgrade for private luxury jets. Consultant Greg Raiff explained that “many plane buyers don’t bother with international Wi-Fi because current offerings are so ‘sketchy.'” When traveling outside of the United States, most airplanes are not equipped to provide internet access. This new development in streaming video will change the capabilities of international travel.

As college students return to their universities to begin another school year, a new travel fad has begun to surface. That’s right- first year college students in the United Kingdom now have the opportunity of arriving in style, via private jet. A provider of shipping services aimed mainly at university students, called Uni Baggage, has expanded its services toward the luxury travel industry, offering drop-off services from horse-and-carriage arrival to private jet setting. While this certainly may not become commonplace for all college students, it proves expansion of the luxury travel industry and the wide variety of options available for transportation.

Flight comparison site Skyscanner has published its Future of Travel report, predicting what trends may come about in the industry over the next decade. From the potential for digital interactive hotel services to underwater hotels, Skyscanner expects that the standards for hotel stays will change quite drastically. The report also discusses both local and “extreme” travel, touching on the growth of peer-to-peer collaboration, social travel, and taking trips to more extreme locations. Luxury travel is expected to grow over the next decade, with potential for many advancements that are already in the works.

Demand for Private Jet Charter Rises in 2014

The private jet charter industry saw a rise in demand in the first half of this year, representing a significant recovery for the luxury travel sector. JetCharters.com has reported “an increase of 61 percent in visitors and trip requests through its Web site during the first and second quarters,” and the FAA shows a 20% rise in business jet use since 2009. Many professionals in the aviation industry expect the upward trend to continue, with even higher growth rates coming in 2015 and 2016.

Use of Business Jets Rises in the Middle East

While most corporations had to cut back on business jet use over the past few years due to the global financial crisis, many reports are showing that the use of private jets is in fact making a comeback. Private Jet Charter, based in Dubai, explains that while “CEOs in the Middle East predominantly use corporate jets for business travel…they are also starting to fly them more for leisure purposes.” Approximately 10% of private flights in the region are for leisure, while the rest are considered to be for business purposes.
