The History of Luxury Flying and Why It’s Valuable Today

Luxury flying has been around for decades and isn’t a new way of traveling by any means. However, availability, cost, and numerous other factors have evolved. Today we soar through the years of luxury flying and give you a unique perspective of its valuable history. Read below for more…

Those who have traveled via a private jet will be the first to tell you that it is one of the most luxurious ways to travel – and it comes with so many perks. And the long list of those who can vouch for this being true is quite extensive. After all, private travel and luxury flying date back decades.

Before there were large, congested commercial airliners that treated passengers as if they were going through a cattle call – flying was a private affair. Commercial aircraft didn’t begin to turn into what it is today until the 1960s.

What does this mean for you? It means the history of luxury flying is extensive – and it has been around for many, many years yet it still shows no signs of slowing down. In fact, it is safe to say that it has been growing quite exponentially – allowing more and more people to experience all that it has to offer.

But was luxury flying always luxury? Let’s take a look at its history – and why it is so valuable today.

The History of Private Travel: A Timeline

1963: The market became ignited by the Learjet 23. This jet was built for the private jet experience.

1966: The Gulfstream II brought us a jet with a large cabin. It could carry more passengers and travel farther distances. Imagine how they could be considered luxurious.

1968: Embraer began building its luxurious private jets. They became a huge player in the private jet industry – and still are today.

1977: Boeing joins the party and also still remains a big player today.

1980: Paris Le Bourget Airport turns its focus to private jets – and is now the busiest private jet airport in the world.

1990: Business jets make their way into the private jet world. These would carry business executives and board members – and really changed the way corporate air travel was done. It was possible before, but this is when corporations made private travel a common practice.

This is also the year that fractional ownership became a thing. Many corporate parties, as well as wealthy individuals, would take part in this fractional ownership so that they would have access to private travel when needed.

And, finally, in the 1990s, private jet charters started to grow in popularity. This brought the possibility of luxury flying to a whole new class of travelers.

1993-1996: Cessna Citation X and Cessna Citation XL became the fastest flying private jets in the industry, with the latter becoming one of the most popular in the world.

2008: The Gulfstream g650 was launched and became the longest-range private jet to date. This jet can travel from London to New York on one single tank. This had been unheard of until now.

The Future?: Private space travel is beginning to take over – with SpaceX carrying the first private passengers into space.

When Flying Became Luxurious

The 1980s and 1990s were the time when jets became the focus of remodels. Rather than purchasing new jets, more and more people began to upgrade their current jets to create comfortable interior cabins as they had never been seen before. They took their jets to new heights just by redecorating their interior.

Sure, the elite, CEOs, business executives, celebrities, and socialites had been flying on private jets for decades, with at least tens of thousands in the sky by the late 1950s. And while they may have seemed luxurious for the day, they have only grown better and better.

Who would have thought back then that some private jets may have bedrooms and full bathrooms onboard these days?

The Value of Luxury Flying Today

When we fast forward to today, the luxurious experience that comes with private travel today is far greater than it has ever been. And we are not just referring to flying in the sky.

Private travel is an experience. With today’s airports so full of thousands upon thousands of passengers, long check-in lines, baggage restrictions, security checkpoints (more long lines), having to arrive hours in advance of your flight – and not knowing whether it will be delayed, long layovers for connecting flights, scrunched in an enclosed space with hundreds of strangers, and so much more. The horror stories that can come from commercial travel are extensive. Even more when you include the increased risk of COVID-19 while traveling and the unruly passengers who don’t want to wear a mask.

More and more people are turning to private travel for their travel needs. It always comes with a much more enjoyable experience, Just look at all the perks:

  • Increased safety and sanitization
  • Flexibility in flight times
  • No layovers
  • No need to share cabin space with strangers
  • Arrive right on time to fly – not hours before
  • No luggage restrictions (even bring your dog!)
  • You will not have to stand in any long lines

Not to mention that you can do what you want to do onboard the flight. You can watch a movie, get some work done, have a private conversation, take a nap, and more – without being bothered.

As the global pandemic took over our lives and travel came to a screeching halt, fears of passing germs and being around large crowds made many hesitant to travel. This is when a rush of people turned toward private flights for comfort and a sense of ease. No longer were these flights just for the elite or the business execs – but they were accessible by everyone. By families with small children, couples wanting a romantic weekend away, and even a group of college kids just trying to get back home.

Today luxury travel is more valuable than ever due to its ability to keep us traveling when we otherwise couldn’t. And keeping us safe when other avenues wouldn’t.

Booking Private Travel

Perhaps the most valuable part of luxury travel today is that it is easy to book. No longer do you have to figure out how to fly via a private jet charter – you can just hop online and book it. It is so easy.

Well, now that you know the history of luxury flying, it is time you book that flight. Where will your travels take you?

Private Jet Inside Look: What’s the Luxury Experience Like?

Get familiar with the luxury flying experience by reading about our private jet inside look!

Flying on a private jet is an experience that many have had, but many more are curious about. For many years, flying private was for the elite – for those who had bank accounts that most others didn’t. For everyone else, commercial air travel was the only choice.

Until now.

Flying private is more accessible and more affordable than ever before. People are able to enjoy all the benefits that come with this travel method without having to give up their life savings. With charters, empty legs, membership clubs, and so forth – a private jet experience is definitely within reach.

So, what is the luxury experience really like? Let’s dive into the private jet inside look details.

The Benefits of Flying Private

When you choose to charter a private jet, you are already opening yourself up to many advantages before you even step foot onboard, such as:

  • Flexibility and convenience. You can choose your airport, the type of jet, and the time you want to fly. You drive up to the airport at the time of your flight. No long lines or waits at terminals. No panicking when you get stuck in traffic. Your flight isn’t going anywhere.
  • Privacy. You don’t have to worry about spending time with strangers because you’ve got the jet to yourself. And, well, those you bring with you. Either way, you don’t have to worry about anyone listening to your conversations, looking over your shoulder at a confidential email, or disturbing you while you sleep. You can get work done, listen to music, watch a movie, and more.

Luxurious accommodations. Of course, you also get the benefit of these comfortable surroundings. Let’s talk more about what this is like when you make the decision to charter a private jet.

The Luxury Experience of a Private Jet

The luxury experience you get from traveling via a private jet doesn’t just come from being on the jet itself. The entire experience is incredibly enjoyable – including the private airport. While some require you to visit commercial airports, you can often request to travel in and out of a private airport.

Speaking of private airports, have you ever been to one? Probably not if you have never flown on a private jet. The luxuries in these airports can vary with some having more amenities than others. Though, perhaps the biggest difference is that the private airport doesn’t require you to show up hours before your scheduled flight. Nor will you stand in any long security checkpoints. And, you may even have ramp access so you can avoid ever having to go into the airport at all. Combined, this can save you a ton of time.

  • Packing. One of the luxuries that comes with private travel is that you won’t have to weigh your luggage. For the most part, as long as it fits, it will fly. No x-ray vision of your luggage is done so you can feel free to pack as you please. This includes full-sized bottles of liquids, such as perfumes, lotions, and shampoos  – as opposed to the limited 3.4 ounces on commercial flights. You can even pack a bottle of liquor or champagne.

Good news for pet owners who want to bring their fur pup along for the flight. You won’t have to worry about Fido being placed in cargo – he can sit right in the seat next to you.

  • The Seating. On a private jet, the seating is much more comfortable than on a commercial plane. Commonly you will find leather, swivel chairs, and even a couch. You will be able to sleep and relax in the reclining seats – or on the bed that can be formed out of the seats. Some of the larger, more upscale jets may even come with a bedroom.

Each of the seats may be placed forward-facing, facing each other, or any combination of ways. They are not usually side-by-side like you find in regular airliners. And you don’t have to worry about sharing any space with a stranger. So, go on – stretch your legs out.

  • The Bathrooms. Believe it or not, not all private jets will have a bathroom. Some jets that are only used for short travel distances usually don’t have a bathroom – or may have something small for emergencies. Others have anything ranging from the typical bathroom you would find on a commercial aircraft to a fully-functional bathroom with a shower. It all depends on the size of the jet.
  • In-Flight Entertainment. When you are on board, you are able to make the most of your experience based on your personalization requests. For instance, you can take advantage of in-flight entertainment, such as watching a movie, listening to music, playing video games, and the like. You can also connect to the wi-fi and get work done in your own private office suite in the sky.
  • Personalizations. Finally, what would a private flight experience be without the ability to personalize your flight? Dining while in flight is up to you. You can inquire as to what is available and most charter companies will give you a list of menus or restaurants to choose from. Choose from things like steak, sushi, fruits, salads, burgers, pizzas, and more. Many private jets come stocked with snacks and drinks – including adult beverages. The selection will vary by jet so inquire before your flight – and request something specific if you prefer.

More than just the food, personalizations allow you to have an air travel experience that was designed just for you – to meet your needs and your preferences.

Booking Your Charter

When you are ready to have the luxury experience yourself, then it is time to charter your private jet. Now that you know the options available, you can always discuss these things with the concierge and determine the best jet for your needs – the distance you are traveling, the number of travelers, and the types of amenities you are looking for. Keep in mind that while all private jets give you the luxury experience, the larger the jet, the more it usually has to offer.

Safe travels!

The Trick to Finding Affordable Private Jets

If you loathe having to travel somewhere due to the inconveniences and nightmares that come with commercial air travel, you are not alone. There is just something so unpleasant about standing in long lines, waiting incessantly, exposing yourself to an enormous amount of germs during a global pandemic, and sitting all cozy with a stranger. Let’s not even get started about that lack of legroom.

Maybe you are someone who doesn’t necessarily mind flying commercial airliners wherever you need to go, but you are always open to more comfortable, luxurious options.

The good news is that you can fly on a private jet for an affordable price – rather than subject yourself to the commercial way of air travel. Don’t believe it is possible? Keep reading. We’ve got the trick to finding affordable private jets.

The Perks of Flying Private

Before we share with you how you can take a flight on an affordable private jet, let’s take a moment to look at all the reasons why you would want to. Are there really benefits to flying private over commercial? You better believe it.

When you travel via a private jet,  you will be able to:

Have privacy

It may seem like a logical thing since it is a private jet, but until you are actually on one, it is difficult to comprehend just how private these jets are. You don’t have to worry about whether you are working on confidential business matters or if you are snoring while you snooze – you have all the privacy you need to do as you would like.

Enjoy comfortable accommodations

The seating you will find on a commercial airliner is no match for what you will find on a private jet. While in-flight, you can relax in comfort – without having to touch knees and elbows with a stranger.

Stay productive

As we said, you have privacy and no one in the way – you can stay productive in the sky. This may mean handling business while out of the office, doing school work, watching a movie, putting together a scrapbook, learning a new language, and a million other things. Whatever it is, you don’t have to let your travels slow you down.

Save time

Traveling privately means being able to save time. There will be no long layovers or connecting flights. You choose what day and time you want to travel and you just go. There are no long lines or waiting around to board, either. With private travel, you are in control of your time, rather than surrendering your minutes, hours, and days even to commercial airline companies.

The Trick to Finding Affordable Private Jets

Now that you understand the reasons why private charters can change your life for the better, you may still be under the impression that the affordability of private flights is way out of your reach. And, well, hate to break it to you, but you would be wrong! There are ways to make them affordable. Here’s how:

Empty Leg Flights

Empty leg flights are those that are, essentially, repositioning themselves for another scheduled flight. For example, let’s say you were looking to travel from Salt Lake City, UT to Los Angeles, CA. You check with the charter company, and a private jet happens to be heading back to Los Angeles because they have another booked flight from there to another location.

Regardless of your travel plans, that jet needs to get back to LA for its next flight – so it will go with or without you. You can use this to your advantage. The pilot can fly without making a dime, or you can fly for a discounted rate, and everyone is happy.

Empty legs are available all the time. The thing is, though, that they aren’t a viable option for those who like to plan ahead. So, if you are willing to take a chance and wait until the last minute, you may get super lucky with a great deal.

Flight Sharing

Private flights like Uber’s ride-sharing? It wouldn’t be unheard of. Some private jets offer these flights between common destinations – say, New York City and Washington, D.C. or, like our previous example, Los Angeles to Las Vegas. You are, in a sense, booking a seat just as you would on a commercial airliner. These flights could actually end up costing comparable to commercial flights – except you get more luxurious accommodations and all the perks.

This is not something that all private jet charter companies offer, as the legal aspects are still a bit fuzzy. Either way, it is definitely something to look out for – especially in the future.

Catch a Deal

Sometimes, depending on what is going on with current bookings, charter companies may be offering specials or deals. These may be advertised, but quite often, they aren’t. If you call them up and just ask, you may be surprised. They could have just the deal you are looking for.

Memberships

If you want to take advantage of all the perks and benefits of flying private, then joining a membership program with a private jet company may be a great way to get access to deals. Some of these programs require you to pay a monthly fee in return for a set number of flights, or others may offer you discounts when booking as well as give you many other perks, such as upgrades, immediate flight access, and so forth.

Save money and have an enhanced travel experience? Yes, please.

Affordable Private Travel

Years ago, no one would have believed you if you told them that affordable private jets would exist. And, today, it is. Once you learn where to look and what to look for, you may be surprised at how accessible, and affordable private travel really is.

Next time you have to travel somewhere, remember all the perks that are waiting for you onboard that private jet. Sign up for a membership program, call and ask about deals, or find an empty leg. Then, kick back and enjoy the experience.

What to Know When Flying with Pets

Heading out of town on an adventure or to visit family usually means leaving behind your best friend. After all, most pet owners consider their furry friends as furry family members. It doesn’t matter whether you have a dog, a cat, or another pet – traveling together is not always the most convenient thing to do, especially when that travel involves flying. However, there are a few tips and things you should know when flying with pets that can make the experience much more enjoyable – for both of you.

Before you book your next getaway, let’s talk about flying with pets.

How Travel Impacts Your Pet

If you have done much traveling at all, you know that it can be stressful at times – and you know what is going on. You know you are getting on an airplane and what to expect while onboard. You know you are traveling to a specific destination and what you intend to do while you are there. You know that there may be noises and bumps and lots of different strangers around. You know all of this because you are human.

While it is greatly dependent on your pet, travel isn’t something they understand. The different routines, the different smells, the different feelings and sensations, and so forth can make pets extremely stressed. It can have a negative impact on your pet. When you decide to allow your animal to go with cargo, these are all amplified.

Before you consider flying with pets, it is important to have a pre-travel vet visit. Discuss your travel plans with the vet and have your pet examined to see if travel is a healthy thing for him or her. Different ages, temperaments, or health conditions can impact the vet’s decision. Further, if you get the ok to travel,  your vet will make sure your pet has all the necessary shots and may even prescribe a drug for sedation during the trip.

Tips for Flying with Pets

  1. Read the airline’s pet policy as they are all different. You may encounter restrictions when it comes to weight, fees, carrier sizes, and policies. For instance, it isn’t uncommon for a commercial airline to insist the pet carrier fit under the seat in front of you. Unless you have a tiny pet, you may need more options. It’s important to note that many airlines have done away with allowing those pets declared as “emotional support animals” on board their flights. Be sure to double-check before you book.

  1. Avoid the cargo if at all possible. You never want to put your pet in the cargo hold. It is just not an ideal situation for your pet – and forget about having connecting flights. Things don’t go wrong very often, but they do. And when they do, you don’t want your pet to be involved. It doesn’t matter how low the incidence rate is – the idea of potentially losing your pet on a connection or due to death is just not what pet owners want to hear.

  1. Most commercial airlines will charge a fee for bringing your pet on board. This fee varies based on the airline, but it can get hefty.

  1. Don’t forget to check breed restrictions. You can have everything in place to fly with your pet, but then arrive at the airport and find you cannot board because your pet doesn’t meet the requirements. Certain breeds such as pit bulls are often refused, as are bulldogs and pugs, due to their respiratory issues. Some airlines won’t take certain breeds of cats, such as Persian or Himalayan, either. So before you end up with a surprise, check first.

  1. Book your ticket in advance. Most commercial airliners only allow so many pets on a flight. The earlier you book your flight, the better chance you have of it being your pet.

  1. Ditch commercial travel and take your pet on the flight of a lifetime – on a private charter. Private jets have a lot fewer restrictions than commercial airliners when it comes

Pets and Private Travel

It seems like a lot of trouble to take your pet with you on your trip, doesn’t it? It can bring added stress to you and cause undue stress to your pet. And, although following the above tips can really help in adding some comfort to the experience, it still doesn’t make the whole thing pleasant.

There is one way in which you can offer your pets a nice getaway with you – without being subjected to commercial airline policies. That’s flying private.

When you choose to book a private charter, you and your dog can walk right onboard the flight! There is no special must-fit-under-the-seat requirement. And there definitely is no way your dog would fly cargo on a private jet. While the flight experience may still be a little stressful for your pup, it gives you the opportunity to get close to your pet, snuggle, watch a movie, have a snack, and offer comfort while in the air.

Check the rules and requirements of your private jet charter. Many will allow dogs to walk right on, but cats will usually have to be in a carrier.

For many pet-loving travelers, flying private is the only option when it comes to transporting their fur friends. Not only does it come with a long list of benefits for you, but it keeps your pets comfy and safe, too – it’s really a win-win.

Closing Thoughts

Traveling can be a wonderful experience and increase your quality of life. It can do the same for your pet, too, if done in the right way. Don’t subject your pet to the stress and anxiety that comes with flying on a commercial airliner, whether in the cargo or under the seat in front of you. Instead, choose to have a wonderful flight experience with your furry friend on board a private jet charter.

No matter where life takes you, you now know what to look for when flying with pets – and how ditching commercial air travel is your best option.

6 Benefits of Traveling on a Small Private Jet

Have you ever considered traveling on a small private jet?

Whether you travel for adventure and experience or because you have to for business, you have the ability to choose private travel. Most travelers book their trips on commercial flights because that is what they are familiar with. However, as access to private jets becomes easier, more and more people are taking advantage of everything they have to offer.

Small private jets come with many benefits. Let’s take a look at 6 of them.

1. Flying Alone

Perhaps one of the biggest benefits of flying on a small private jet is simply, well, flying private. You are the passenger – not you and 200 strangers. There is no sharing cabin air with other travelers or worrying if you are being too intrusive into someone else’s space – or they, yours.

You fly alone with either yourself or those you have chosen to fly with you. You can listen to music or watch a movie without headphones – and not disrupt others. You can have that personal conversation or that confidential business call without anyone else hearing.

What’s more, is that you don’t have to worry about the spreading of germs. In our current pandemic world that doesn’t show too many signs of slowing down, it can be incredibly beneficial to reduce risk by flying on a small private jet. After all, less contact with others means a greater risk of safety.

2. Greater Comfort

You get a great amount of comfort when you choose to fly on a small private jet. Just because its size may be smaller doesn’t mean its luxurious accommodations or amenities are any less. With seating in chairs or benches, plush carpeting, large windows, and so much more,  you will find that you can have a great experience no matter where your travels take you.

Keep in mind that each jet is different – some may have upgrades that others do not. So, it is important to find exactly what you are looking for to top off your trip.

3. Increased Flexibility

Have you ever felt inconvenienced when booking commercial travel? It isn’t uncommon for someone to want to arrive or depart at a particular time and not have any flights available. Commercial airlines base their schedules on several factors – but none of them were created solely for your convenience.

Traveling on a small private jet is much different. This is where you will find flexibility – and have the chance to set your own schedule and choose the perfect time for you to travel. And if you’d like to visit more than one city on a single trip, you can do that, too.

Can you imagine it? When you get stuck in a traffic jam on your way to the airport, you won’t have to worry about missing your flight. You are the only passenger, and the jet will wait for you.

4. Reach Any Airport

Yes, it is true that private jets and commercial jets share the same airport. But did you know that there are small airports that are designed to handle only small, private jets? It’s true – commercial flights can’t make use of these airports. That means another benefit of flying on a small private jet is being able to visit more airports.

If you are an adventure traveler, then this means you open your world up to new possibilities. If you are a business traveler looking to handle a meeting and get back to the office, being able to access these smaller airports can often get you closer to your destination and save you time due to low traffic.

5. Stay Productive

Usually, when you travel, you lose the time you are in the sky or standing in the security line, or waiting to board a plane. You don’t get that time back, but the things you could have been doing instead will still be there. Like that paper for school that needs to be written, those reports for the company meeting next week need to be reviewed, and so on.

Sure, you could work on these while on your commercial flight, but there is not much privacy or comfort in doing so. It is hard to maneuver your documents, your computer, and so forth and still be as comfortable as possible.

Traveling on a small private jet means you get all the time in the world to get these things taken care of.  That’s right – you can still remain productive while traveling on a small private jet. There is nothing stopping you, no unwanted pair of eyes, and no lack of space. You can spread out freely and enjoy your time traveling and knocking all those things off your to-do list.

6. Bring Your Furry Friend

If you have ever taken your pet on a commercial flight, then you know what an inconvenience it can be. They get jammed in a crate and shoved under the seat – or under the plane. It can be a traumatizing experience for a pet the first time. And as a pet owner, it can be heartbreaking.

For those who treat their pets as family, flying on a small private jet means bringing Fido along for the ride, too – except this time, in comfort and style. There are no hefty fees, and your pet won’t have to be tucked away tightly under the seat.

Some travelers believe this to be the biggest game-changer when determining whether or not to fly private.

Skip Commercial, Travel on a Small Private Jet

As we said, you have the choice when it comes to travel. You could very well allow someone else to dictate your schedule, seat you elbow to elbow with a stranger after spending hours going through security checkpoints and waiting to board the plane. Or, you could enjoy the privacy and comfort, stay productive in the sky, arrive closer to your destination, and bring your best friend along.

Consider your choices, weigh your options, then go book your flight on a small private jet charter.

The List of Our Nicest Private Jets

When flying private, there are multiple jets you can choose from. Here is a list of the nicest private jets The Early Air Way has to offer.

Flying on a private jet is one of those things that not everyone gets to experience. Although more accessible than you probably realize, people tend to stick to what they know – the commercial travel nightmare. That is, up until the coronavirus pandemic hit and more people were seeking safe, germ-free ways to travel. Those who had never considered private travel were now relying on it.

As everyone begins to navigate this trending travel method that has been around for years, we thought maybe we should talk about the nicest private jets that are available to you – and all that they have to offer you. After all, if you are going to fly private you ought to treat yourself now and then, wouldn’t you say so? Even if you don’t, knowing your options is always smart with every choice you have to make in life.

Perks of Private Travel

Just in case you haven’t grabbed on to the coattails of the private jet world to experience these perks first hand, let’s talk about some of the benefits you will receive when you choose to ditch commercial travel and fly private. (Warning – you may never book another commercial flight).

Your time is precious. If we’ve learned anything over the last two years, it is that time is precious. We never know when our time is going to be up, and it would be awful just to waste it, right? With a private jet, you don’t have to be at the airport two hours in advance, so you can stand in security lines or sit at the boarding gate. You don’t have long layovers or strange flight times. You simply show up and board your jet. Most flights are direct unless your itinerary is long enough to require a quick refueling stop.

Safer travel. You have fewer germs and less risk when traveling on a private jet. You can often choose your pilot or who you want onboard.  And you can see their certifications and safety ratings and so forth. In other words, you get safety in all forms.

Privacy is the standard. Private jets mean privacy. The only passengers on board are those you bring with you. So no matter what you do while on your private jet,  you will have peace and quiet and privacy to do it. Watch that movie without headphones, listen to some music, have that conversation, get your confidential work done, etc. You can also get some sleep without worrying about how your snoring will affect the person next to you!

Get closer to your destination. When you fly private, you have the opportunity to visit more airports, as some of the smaller executive or private airports cannot accommodate large, commercial aircraft. That means you can get closer to your destination. Or, you can just avoid the hustle and bustle – and a load of traffic – that comes with busy airports.

More freedoms. Because you are the passenger, you get more freedom. For instance, you don’t need to keep your liquids to less than 3oz. And, you can bring your dog if you’d like. You don’t have to pay extra for a checked bag. You can control your schedule, traveling during the hours that are most convenient to you. If you are stuck in traffic and a few minutes late, you don’t have to worry about the jet leaving without you – you are, after all, the passenger.

Comfortable accommodations. Imagine walking on a jet and sitting wherever you would like. And, imagine that seat being incredibly comfortable. That’s what happens on a private jet. Depending on the jet you are traveling on, there may be chairs, couches, beds, entertainment systems, gourmet foods to eat, drinks – including adult beverages, full-size bathrooms, and so much more. You can truly travel in luxury when you travel on a private jet. Keep in mind that all private jets are comfortable, but they may not all provide the lavish accommodations just discussed.

Now that you’ve heard the perks, are you ready for the biggest one? The luxury aircraft. Let’s talk about our list of the nicest private jets.

Flying In a Private Jet vs. First Class

Flying in a private jet vs first class both have their own pros and cons. Find out what’s right for you!

Flying coach is not the most exciting option when it comes to flying. Sure, it can get you to your destination and back again, but is it enjoyable? Is it memorable? Think about the last trip that you took as a regular commercial airline passenger. Think about the long lines you stood in to get to the boarding process of your flight. And the elbows and knees you touched of the person sitting next to you. Coach offers no special treatment along the way — it was just you and everyone else around sitting in the cramped seats breathing in the same air, sharing the conversation, whether intended or not and feeling very exposed.

But what could your travel experience be like if you chose a private jet vs. first class? Which is better? Are they the same? Is it worth it?

Private Jet vs. First Class: Similarities

It’s true – there are some similarities of flying in a private jet vs. first class. First, they both come with a little more comfort than the coach option. Seats are bigger and more comfortable, as well as having a little more room between them.

They both get you to and from your destinations, traveling all over the world. And, while onboard, you will have access to inflight service.

Both of these options cost a bit more than your average airfare.

Private Jet vs. First Class: Differences

Just as first-class and private travel have some similarities, they both offer quite a different experience. Let’s take a look at a few of the critical differences.

Onboard Accommodations. While first-class offers you more room and more comfortable seating, you still have an assigned seat – and no option but that seat. On a private jet, however, you have your choice of luxurious seating – chairs, sofas, dining table, or even a bed.

Freedom. When you fly first class, you can get up to use the restroom or stretch your legs, but you don’t have far to go, thanks to all the other passengers. With a private jet, you have the freedom to move about and sit wherever you’d like, and spend your time how you best see fit.

Privacy. Because your first-class seat is still onboard a commercial aircraft, privacy – or lack thereof – is still a concern. You may be at the front of the plane and in a less dense space, but you are not in a private setting. On a private jet charter, you are the passenger, which means you have total privacy while onboard the flight.

Time. Time is a precious commodity, so saving it is important. When taking a first-class flight, you have to go by the routes and travel times that the commercial planes fly. And, you still will find yourself having to go to the airport, wait in line for security, and again at the gate to board. You can save time on a private jet since you get to choose your travel time for convenience, you don’t have to stand in long security lines or deal with layovers, etc. Private jet travel is the fastest and most direct way to and from your destination.

Available Destinations. When you travel first class, you are traveling on larger airliners. And these airliners cannot physically land in certain destinations due to their size. This reduces the number of destinations available. Private jets have the capability of landing at any airport – including all commercial and private/executive airports, as well as those in remote areas.

Inflight Services. First-class travelers get special treatment. For instance, their adult beverages may be complementary, and their food or snack selection may include premium offerings. The attention from the flight attendant is often quite decent. And wifi is often part of the deal, too. Though, on a private jet, you get a high level of connectivity, catered meals, one-on-one service from the flight attendant, and more. You can request anything special you would like to be on board when booking and personalize the whole experience.

COVID Safety. It is important to note that the level of safety during this global pandemic will vary between a private jet vs. first class, despite their level of cleaning and sanitizing. Although you may spend extra to give yourself a little more space in first class, you are still on board a commercial aircraft with hundreds of others. And you had to go through a bustling airport just to get to the boarding gates. This increases your risk of germs. Private travel removes hundreds of people, reducing your risk significantly.

Benefits of Flying Private

You have your choice when it comes to air travel. You can, of course, go online and book yourself a commercial coach ticket to the destination of your choice. If you are feeling generous, you could even treat yourself to an upgraded seat in first class. Or, you could take advantage of all the benefits that come with flying private

  • Being able to choose the best time to fly. You have control over what time you would like to travel.
  • Flexibility is also much greater. Could you imagine a commercial aircraft waiting for you because you got stuck in traffic? With a private jet, you are the passenger so that the jet won’t leave without you. If you need to adjust the flight schedule, you have more flexibility to do so.
  • Getting work done while onboard, having private conversations, or even just taking a snooze can all be done in private since there are no other passengers.
  • The level of comfort you receive on a private jet surpasses any other method of air travel. You get to enjoy some of the most luxurious accommodations in the sky.

Air travel is the best way to get to your destination quickly. But not all methods of air travel are created equal. You can always choose first class, but if luxury and personal treatment is what you are looking for, then you need to charter a private jet. Reap the benefits, explorer!

The Most Luxurious Private Jet Interiors

The real selling point for private jets is what they have on the inside. Read more about some of the best features private jet interiors have to offer.

There are many different ways to get from one place to another by utilizing air travel. After all, not all aircraft are created equal. There are those that come with hundreds of other passengers packed tightly in one airplane — finally able to be seated after standing for what seemed like forever in security lines and boarding lines. Then there are those that offer a unique drive-up and board experience. This method of private travel, using private jets and FBOs, is unlike any other flying experience. Here are some of the best features private jet interiors have to offer.

Private Jet Interiors Are An Office in the Sky

When you are traveling between destinations, life – and business – still move forward on the ground. The more private jets are recreated for today’s world, the more they provide an office in the sky.

The most luxurious private jets know what is needed to keep business moving forward. Things like adequate desk space, conference tables, the ability to connect to the internet, computers, telephones, and more are all necessary. When done in a comfortable, elegant manner — the office space on a private jet can look better than your office. It’s no wonder why many top executives hold business meetings in the sky – it’s quite impressive in many different ways.

Perhaps the best part about this office in the sky is that it is private. You can take your laptop on a commercial flight, connect to wi-fi, and get some work done. The problem is that you never know who is lurking over your shoulder. This could be a problem for those dealing with confidential business documents or communications. And, let’s be honest – if a verbal conversation is to be had, you may as well send out a memo to everyone onboard the commercial airliner!

Get Some Rest While On Board

Traveling can lead to some unforgettable adventures, but it can also be incredibly exhausting. Onboard a commercial airliner, you can find yourself trying to tilt your seat back, probably irritating the person behind you and resulting in a knee to the back a few times. Just as you start to sleep, the person next to you needs to climb over you to go to the restroom – and getting sleep is just not as enjoyable as you would like.

Things are much different with private jet interiors. The seats are very comfortable and soft – and you can melt into and relax. Many even lay completely flat for extra comfort. But when you don’t just want to sit and would rather crawl into bed and snuggle up for a much-needed rest – you can. Some of the most extravagant private jets come with their own bedroom, custom-fitted duvet, pillows, and everything you need to get your rest.

Dining and Flying

While inside private jet interiors, you are sure to get hungry – especially on longer trips. Some travelers even use a private flight to celebrate and indulge. It is not uncommon for some of the most delicious and extravagant meals to be catered while in the air.

Depending on the size, some of the hottest private jets have full-blown dining rooms or even banquet halls. You may find several different types of dining options in the same jet, as well.

Imagine being able to work in your office and then move on down the hallway to the dining room, where you can enjoy a nice meal before heading off to bed for the rest of the flight. By the time you reach your destination, it will feel like you have already been on vacation.

Lounging and Entertainment

If you are taking your trip and you’d like to sit back, lounge around, and relax rather then you may find a private jet conducive to your plans. While each one will differ greatly from the others, comfort and entertainment are quite common here. The more high-end your accommodations, the greater the experience.

Lots of chairs and sofas usually make up the general lounging area of the private jet. Here you will find televisions (though they may vary in size), as well as the ability to connect to all sorts of streaming services. And most are equipped with surround sound, too.

So, what does that mean for you? Well, on your trip to or from your destination, you can experience your very own theater in the sky. Have some popcorn and drinks on board to finish off the experience.

Or turn on the music and have a dance party. It is not very often that one can say they have danced on (or in) the clouds.

Restrooms that are Out of this World

The airplane bathrooms on commercial airliners have been the butt of many jokes. Everyone knows they are tiny and designed for one person without much extra space. On a luxurious private jet, though, that’s not the case.

While some restrooms may be small, many are just as large as any ordinary residential restroom. And, depending on the jet, you may even have a shower on board, too – which can lead to a more comfortable experience. This is especially beneficial if you have napped or have been traveling for a while and want to be ready for an important meeting or the like when you land.

Private Jet Interiors Offer Connectivity and Extra Touches

Last but not least, there are those little extras that set one jet apart from another jet. For instance, you may find a jet with a fully functional kitchen. Or even a gym, bar, or casino table. A library, a foosball table, a gaming area, a library nook — the options are endless. If you can dream it up, you may be able to find it on a luxury private jet.

The next time you have travel plans, you have a choice — you can find yourself on a commercial airline with hundreds of other people making it through a boring travel experience. Or, you can book a private jet charter and uncover what it truly means to fly in luxury private jet interiors. Just beware — once you experience private travel and all its extra touches, you may never allow yourself to fly commercial again!

Six of The Most Popular Turboprop Airplanes

Turbo prop airplanes can be the perfect charter option for those looking to travel short distances, travel in luxury, and get where you need to go.

If you have ever tried to charter a private jet, you have likely discovered that there are so many options when it comes to available aircraft. Choosing what best fits your needs usually comes down to things like your number of passengers, the distance you are traveling, the amenities you are looking for, and more.

Along with choices like super mids, light jets, midsize jets, and very light jets, you will also be able to choose a turbo prop airplane.

Because they don’t get the attention they deserve, let’s look at some key features of turboprops and 6 of the most popular turbo prop airplanes in the air today.

What Are Turbo Prop Airplanes?

Turbo props are aircraft that are commonly chartered. They are generally designed to operate at lower altitudes and slower speeds than other commonly chartered jets. But they are still a very viable option. These small planes do have some very distinct advantages over other jet options when booking that flight. Let’s learn a little about them – and what sets them apart.

The Propeller:

Turbo prop airplanes have a propeller on the outside. Can you picture it? They still have the same turbine engine that powers them like other private jets, but they have a propeller outside while other private jet charters have fan blades located in the engine housing.

Economical:

These private jet charters are often much more economical than other private jet options. This is especially true when it comes to shorter flights.

Flight Range:

Turbo props are best used for short distances. Their average flight range usually can’t exceed 1,500 miles.

Turbulence:

As stated, turbo prop airplanes are designed to travel at low altitudes – generally below 30,000 ft. The most turbulent air is found between 23,000 and 39,000 feet. That means turboprops have a prime seat for a bumpy ride. Of course, on a nice day, this is not going to be a problem at all, but when there is any questionable weather, you may be in for an unforgettable ride.

Luxurious Accommodations:

Just because they are small and have a propeller does not mean that turboprops are any less luxurious than other private jets. Many are very comfortable with technology-filled cabins and all the extra amenities.

1. Piaggio Avanti Evo Twin Turbo Prop Airplane

This stunning turbo prop is an Italian-made aircraft that has made its way to the United States. It is a quiet, fuel-efficient option with performance-boosting propellers and new safety systems.

The inside cabin can hold eight passengers in comfortable accommodations, including fold-down tables, reclining chairs, and wireless connectivity. Standing is not too big of a problem for most as the height of the cabin is 5’9″.

This Piaggio turboprop can travel at speeds up to 463 mph, and travel distances greater than 1,900 miles.

2. Beechcraft King Air 350

Business execs often use this King Air turboprop airplane thanks to its roomy cabin, fold-out tables, and productive workspace. All the power outlets make it easy to keep those laptops powered up, too.

The cabin of this top-of-the-line King Air is equipped to hold a total of 8 passengers comfortably, though seats can be removed to create even more space if needed.

Traveling at a top speed of 360 mph, this aircraft can go distances up to approximately 2,000 miles.

3. Pilatus PC-12

The Pilatus PC-12 and the new version, the Pilatus PC-12 NG, can take off just about anywhere — which makes it convenient for those seeking travel to rugged locations. They have a lot of room inside and comfortable accommodations for passengers onboard – seating for 6 to 8 passengers. Not to mention that they come equipped with a wireless entertainment system and communications options. Most passengers love the ability to monitor their flight on a mapping system in real-time.

The Pilatus PC-12 can travel at a range of approximately 2,100 miles and speeds around 322 mph.

4. Beechcraft King Air 260

This aircraft can seat a maximum of 9 occupants in its beautiful and welcoming interior space. Decked out with the latest touchscreen technology and digital pressurization, it is a comfortable ride for all who step on board.

The King Air 260 can travel at speeds up to 310 mph with a travel distance of 1,720 miles. It is a flight that surely won’t disappoint.

5. Nextant G90XT Twin Turbo Prop

This is one of the quietest airplanes in the air for its size. And the interior is nothing short of luxurious, with leather seating and hardwoods. Though, the interior cabin is only about 4’9″ high. An onboard lavatory makes up for any lacking headspace.

There is plenty of space to work or relax while cruising at an average of about 322 mph. This turboprop can reach distances of up to 1,400 before needing to stop.

The fun fact is that Nextant purchased older Beechjet models and gave them a complete makeover, a new engine, and all. Even the cockpit has all new state-of-the-art technology.

6. Jetstream 4100

Did you know that turboprops can hold a lot of passengers? The Jetstream 4100 is one of them – with maximum seating for 29 passengers and two pilots! This jet can land and take off just about anywhere. This aircraft has a luxurious interior that has a quiet cabin. It has a very comfortable cabin height of 5’10” – and a lavatory on board, too.

The Jetstream can travel short distances of about 774 miles before needing to refuel. And cruises at speeds of 295 mph on average.

Turbo Prop Airplanes: Closing Thoughts

The next time you find yourself wanting to fly the friendly skies, don’t feel like you have to jump onto a private jet — especially if you aren’t traveling great distances. The most popular turbo prop airplanes are available for charter and can get you where you need to be. And, let’s not forget how efficient, economical, and luxurious turboprops are.

4 of The Fastest Business Jets

Learn about the fastest business jets available today. Some private jets are designed for comfort, some for speed, and some for both.

Our society today wants instant gratification. We don’t want to wait for anything. We shop online, and it is delivered the next day. We use apps to instantly send money from one person’s bank account to another’s. We pay for streaming services to binge-watch shows without having to wait for next week’s episode. And this probably explains why we don’t often slow down to take those cross-country family road trips anymore.

Life is full, and it is busy. And time doesn’t slow down. So when you need to travel from one location to the next, there is a good chance you are looking for the fastest way to get there. Sound about right? Here are four of the fastest business jets in the air.

1. The Gulfstream G500

If you are looking to travel within the United States with power, then the Gulfstream G500 may be an excellent choice for you. This jet brings a mix of comfort and safety — and was even awarded the 2019 Flying Innovation Award. It is decked out in the latest technology with a keen eye on safety measures.

The beautiful cabin will make you feel as though you are traveling in style – without lacking anything. With touch controls for things like lighting and temperature, you may just find yourself wishing you were traveling further! While each one may vary, it is not uncommon to find a comfortable couch, a television, and even an entertainment system.

Specs on the Gulfstream G500

The Gulfstream G500 has twin engines with a top speed of Mach 0.925 and has a range of a little over 5,000 nautical miles. This jet can comfortably accommodate around 13 passengers.

2. The Gulfstream G650 / G650 ER: The Fastest Business Jet

Are you looking to travel even faster? Well, this private jet – the Gulfstream G650 ER – currently holds the record for the farthest and fastest business jet in history. Can you believe it flew from Singapore to Tucson, AZ, in less than 15.5 hours? That is super fast.

But speed is not all this jet has. It has a spacious cabin that is comfortable for everyone on board. Big windows provide you with panoramic views as you fly by. Again, you will find that the luxurious accommodations give you a space for dining, a comfy couch for lounging, a television and entertainment system, too. Touch devices – or smartphone apps – can be used to control the television, lighting, shades, and more. And the fully reclining chairs make getting some rest a breeze.

There are several different floor plans to choose from, so not every visit on a Gulfstream G650 or G650 ER will look the same.

Perhaps one of the most unique aspects of this jet is that it is big enough for the crew to have their own cabin. This gives you more privacy – while keeping everyone comfortable.

Specs on the Gulfstream G650

The Gulfstream G650 / Gulfstream G650 ER has a top speed of Mach 0.925 with a range of 7,500 nautical miles. Depending on the model, this jet can hold up to anywhere from 11 to 18 passengers.

3. The Bombardier Global 7500

Referred to as the world’s most expensive jet (with a starting price at around $73M US), the Bombardier Global 7500 is the epitome of luxury and fine things. And because you are traveling such great distances, the Bombardier Global 7500 has created a state-of-the-art air management system to keep optimal cabin pressure and fresh air — resulting in more energy and less jet lag.

This jet has a wide cabin that makes it so incredibly spacious for all the passengers on board. You will find a master bedroom, seating for up to 19 people, and maybe even a shower! Filled with Nuage seating or “cloud” seating, you will fly in comfort among the clouds.

There are two couches, televisions, entertainment systems, dining and conference areas, and so much more. Bombardier Global has thought of it all when releasing this new jet to the skies.

Specs on the Bombardier Global 7500

You may want to hold your hats for these specs. This private jet can travel approximately 7,700 nautical miles and accommodate up to 19 passengers. And did we mention it also flues at a Mach 0.925?

4. The Cessna Citation X+

Ready for the fastest business jets in the air today? Look no further than the Cessna Citation X+.

This private jet isn’t just about the speed. It has a top-of-the-line cockpit and better systems, increasing safety and efficiency. And while the cabin may not be as decked out as some others, it still provides a lot of comfort with some space to move around. Keep in mind that the cabin is only 66 inches wide and 68 inches tall, so it is definitely not going to be as spacious as others, but it is still a great option for fast travel. Plus, you will find internet and various entertainment systems to keep you busy while on board.

If you are more concerned about getting to your destination quicker than you are about all the frills, then you will be pleasantly surprised how this jet can meet your needs.
