U.S. Capital Welcomes Record Visitors in 2014 | The Early Air Way's BlogWashington, D.C. welcomed a record number of domestic tourists in 2014, topping out at 18.3 million visitors over the course of the year. This number proves a 5.7% increase over the 2013 numbers, according to the city’s tourism bureau. Visitor spending also increased, along with food and beverage, retail, and entertainment spending. In continuing efforts to promote the capital’s tourism, $9 billion worth of new development is going on in D.C. neighborhoods, along with print and commercial campaigns.
