Federal regulations stipulate that passengers have a 24 hour period to hold reservations for flights at the quoted rate. American Airlines is changing its policy regarding this ruling.

Previously American Airlines would require payment after 24 hours, but once the change has been implemented payment is required up front. There will be no penalty if the flight is cancelled within 24 hours of purchase.

This new policy by American Airlines mirrors the policies of the other large airlines out there.
